Intense Times

Intense Times blogBy: Melissa Kolmar, CPDT-KA, SBA

We are living in some intense and stressful times right now (that’s why I wanted to use a chill photo of a doggy massage!). I wanted to share an update with you from New Dawn.

As many of you know, we have always kept our class sizes small. This is designed to give everyone space from one another and help the dogs to focus on their handler and not the other dogs or people in class. Also, small classes mean more individual attention from your instructor. Our small class sizes mean that we typically do not have more than 10 people in the room. Groups of ten or smaller is the current recommended guideline by the CDC and federal government.

We have always been consistent with our cleaning protocols at New Dawn (many of you have mentioned how clean our facility is!). We have added additional protocols of disinfecting all chairs, doorknobs and surfaces after each class or session. If anyone is concerned about touching anything, remember…a poop bag makes a great makeshift glove when opening a door! We also have several bathrooms with hand washing sinks throughout the center.

We also have removed handshakes from our greeting protocols. We will encourage people to stay six-feet apart as social distancing protocols suggest. This is easy to do in our large training room.

If any one is immune-compromised or living with someone who is, please stay home and take care of yourself! Also, if you are feeling ill or live with someone who is, please stay home as well. Let us know if that is your situation and we will transfer your payment to a future class/private session at no cost to you.

Be safe and remember to have fun with your dog!
